Chalgrove Classic Car Show (part 4 of 4)

On the Monday 25th May, which was a Bank Holiday I headed over to South Oxfordshire and the village of Chalgrove, where a classic car show and May day festival was being held in memory of Matthew Marriage. Matthew sadly lost his life in 2023 in a crash, and as classic cars was one of Matthews passions this car show is held to raise money for the Thames Valley Air Ambulance that attended to Matthew at the scene. Now in it's 3rd year the show continues to generate more and more interest each year with more and more classic vehicles turning up. The actual show is held in the grounds of 'The Lamb' pub where good food and drinks are available. The forecast was hot (33°c) so it promised to be a good turn out. So on the Monday morning Suzie and I headed off into the countryside. The blog continues as I wander around the show looking at all the awesome vehicles.

This lovely '68 bug caught my eye as it
looked totally original and so clean.

Factory Five Racing Shelby Daytona
65 coupé replica looked great.

Stunning Sunbeam Tiger circa mid'  '60's.

The 'Tiger' was the V8 version of the
earlier Sunbeam Alpine, both designed, in
 part, by Carroll Shelby

A 260ci (4.3L) Ford V8 powered this
little roadster along.

Red vinyl seats, red carpet and door
cards and a wooden dashboard, and of
course the wood rimmed steering wheel.

Austin Healy Sprite MK1 roadster, or more
commonly known as the, Frogeye Sprite.

Lashings of red vinyl in the Sprite.

A proper go anywhere Willys Jeep.

A lovely MK2 Jaguar 4.2.

This Aston Martin DB4/2 Mk1 drophead
coupé is as rare as chickens teeth.

Produced from 1953 - 1957 this really
must have been seen as exotic.

Basic looking interior, but with 140MPH
on the speedo, this must have really had
some performance.

This 1960 Cadillac series 60 Fleetwood
was huge and looked stunning in the
sunshine.

You can see just how much longer the
Caddy is, the rear of the car was nearly in
the next field!

The interior looks like something out of
a space rocket. I love the chrome pods
for housing the fuel / temp gauges and
the clock.

I think car designers today need to go
back to designing cars like this again.

Just a random photo of a cool Moon Eyes
sticker just because I liked it.

So that was the Chalgrove Classic Car meet. Overall a great day out for a worthy cause. The location was excellent, the Lamb pub was friendly and had a well stocked selection of drinks, and the mouth watering food was competitive. The sheer number of classics and the standard of them was amazing. Well done to everyone involved in organising this event, see you in 2027. Next week the blog review is all about the Stonor Park VW show, where you'll only be able to see classic air cooled VW's so don't forget to come back next week.
