AVWO Club meet (part 2 of 2)

The Aylesbury Volkswagen Owners Club (AVWOC) is a Facebook based club set up in 2020 for anyone owning a Volkswagen or VAG vehicle. The club has grown rapidly with over 1,500 members in just 6 years. Once a month they hold a 'Breakfast' meet at the Akeman Inn, Kingswood, near Aylesbury, Bucks. This monthly event has event has also grown in popularity and the large car park is almost always full of members vehicles, both air-cooled and water cooled. August's breakfast meet was held on Sunday 17th and as the forecast was good and I had some free time I jumped in my bus and headed over to join in the fun. As my blog is air-cooled based I try to keep my photos to air-cooled vehicles, so apologies to all the water cooled AVWOC members. The review continues as I wander around chatting and taking photos.

To see all my other blog entries, go to ‘My Blog Archive’ to the left of this page. Simply click on an arrow for a particular year, then click on an arrow for a particular month, this will then give you a drop down menu for all the blog entries for that month.

Simon owns a patina'd early bay, but he
chose to come along to the breakfast
meet in his cool Baja.

Simon's mascot, or road kill..?

Green interior looks cool.

The business end, you'll hear Simon
coming before you see him with that mega
exhaust.

Super straight gloss black Karmann Ghia.

The AVWOC is for both air-cooled and
water cooled VW's.

The shiny chrome against that bright
orange paint looked amazing.

Nobody told Simon that he was allowed
to park in the car park even though he's
got a Baja.

I spy a VW meet.

My bus and Tom's grey split basking in
the warm sun.

Talking of Tom's grey split.. a minor
adjustment was needed, and luckily Andy
was willing and able to lend a hand to get
Tom's bus running as it should again.

And talking of Andy, he was showing off
his awesome new (to him) cooler. The
cooler was painted in blue to match his
bus then 'aged' to also match his bus.

Andy's coolbox was hand painted and
striped by Stinky Pete's Signwriting, who
is also a AVWOC member.

So that was the Aylesbury VW Owners August breakfast meet. Overall a great way to spend a couple of hours with some good mates, and some awesome VW's all in a great location and also some great weather. Next week blog will be another 2 part review all about the Brill Classic Car Show, where you will be able to see both British, European and American classics including plenty of VW's, so be sure to come back next week.
