Outcast / House of Dub club meet

This month's Outcast club meet was a joint affair with the House of Dub VW Club due to their normal venue being closed for refurbishment. Zoe from House of Dub, posted a message on the Outcast face book page asking if would mind bringing our club meet forward a week so that we could share our venue with them and have a joint club meet, and as Zoe and the other House of Dub members are good friends of ours we agreed. It was a bitterly cold evening with the temperature just above freezing early in the evening, and due to get much colder but that didn't stop the hard core vee dubbers from driving over to Aylesbury. Despite the freezing conditions we had VW owners from 3 different counties, Bedfordshire, Oxfordshire and of course Buckinghamshire and had around 17 vehicles in the car park!

Mark came over in his grey and white bay
window later in the evening.

Mark must have every conceivable accessory
known to any vee dubber...

Mark's bay has been off the road for quite a
while, so it's nice to see it back where it
should be.. on the road and attending club
meets.

View of one side of the pub car park.

Bod came over in his uber cool lime greenT5,
followed by Darren in his Silver T5. (sorry
Darren I didn't a photo of your ride)

Adrian left his fire truck at home and came
over from the other side of Oxford
in his Bug. Well done mate, nice to see you.

Adrian's bug, looking it's age..!

Adrian's and Zoe's beetles parked up.

Zoe's '67 Beetle back on the road after
a short time in the workshop after someone
pulled out in front of her causing damage to
the nearside front end ...

but when you and your partner Spike, run and
own a VW workshop and import vehicles it
doesn't take long before 'Donkey' is looking
as good as new. Zoe has owned this bug
almost all her life so it was the only option to
get it repaired.
Check out the HOD website:

Simon came over in hisT4, with cool graphics
on the bonnet and strobe lights in the grill.
(sorry about the poor quality of this photo,
I must have been shivering..!)

Simon's T4.

Tony from the House of Dub, came down in
his Vento having left his super clean T25
at home.

Amanda followed her partner Simon over in her
Golf, which is super clean with multi coloured
strobe lights in the grill.

Richard and his partner braved the cold and
came over in his newly acquired GTi Polo.

Yes it may be freezing, but that doesn't stop
the hard core vee dubbers standing in a pub
car park having fun.

My '69 bay parked up and just starting to
freeze over...

Claude's brought his 1960 Kombi, it's quite
early in the evening and the frost is already
on the windscreen... soon to turn to ice.
Check out Claude's VW blog:

Tony from Oxdubz came over to meet us for
the first time in his nice red and whiteT25.
Nice to meet you mate, see you again soon.

Interior of Tony's T25.. very homely.

No mistaking what VW club Tony belongs to.

Tim came over with Tony in his lovely straight
chocolate brown T25 with cool white retro
stripe. This is the man you need to speak to
if you need any exhaust work.

Ellie managed to sneak out for a few hours
and brought 'Nitro Nacy', her '96 Golf.

Stuart managed to get his '71 bay started
and joined the line up.

Matt and Caroline also braved the elements
and came in their '69 bay.

Matt and Caroline's bay... how does he keep
those wheels so clean..?

VW evening at The Charter.

Nice to see so many people attend the club
meet, with a good variety of vehicles.

Outcast / House of Dub VW meet.
(thanks to Claude for this photo)

The temperature was slowly dropping
all night and by the time Zoe left for
home it was well below freezing and she
had to clear ice from the outside and
inside of her bug. This is Zoe's view
on the way home, and yes that is ice on the
window rubber.. on the inside!

That was the Outcast and House of Dub joint VW club meet.
Yes the weather did it's best to put us off, but even freezing
conditions didn't deter us. It was a good evening with great friends
new and old. Thanks to everyone who attended and made it such
a good evening, I suggest maybe in the spring, the Outcast club
could venture into Bedfordshire and join the HoD club at their venue..?

S.S.V.C autumn jumble

This weekend Claude and I decided to go the the Ace Cafe for the
SSVC (Split Screen Van Club) Autumn jumble. It was a cold November morning as we left Aylesbury at 08.00am, but an hour later when we arrived in North West London the sun was shining, even so it was still a very cold winters day.

Neil's Syncro and Darrens bay outside the
Ace Cafe. Neil is from my hometown of
Aylesbury and Darren is a member of the
WGCVW club.

Some members of the Oxbubz club also had
a drive out. Tony took his notchback.

Big T. also from Oxdubz brought his super
clean squareback.

Big T. must have raised his air suspension
to get up the kerb.

The Ace Cafe always attracts American cars
and Hot Rods and this 1947 Dodge was
immaculate and looked awesome in the
winter sun.

How cool does the front end look... love all the
chrome work.

Such a beautiful car, and the whitewall tyres
suit the car perfectly.

Being an event organised by the SSVC, you
just knew the majority of busses would be
split screens, and most of them brought some
parts to sell.

Nice looking split, slightly rat looking but still
very nice.

If your going be selling some parts you may
as well be comfortable...

This palm green bus was one of my favourite
busses at the jumble.

The patina on the rear quarters of the palm
green bus was just about perfect.

Another rat looking green and white split,
parked up next to a an immaculate red and white
single cab pick up

Interior of the split was, as you would expect
also ratty and basic, but still very nice.

Yep, looks good from every angle.

The owner of this single cab pick up had a
ready made stall to sell his un-wanted parts.

The selection of used parts and NOS was
wide and varied.

Claude's Kombi at the Ace Cafe. Follow
Claude's VW related blog at:

Claude's Kombi next to a regular at the Ace,
a yellow and silver split screen.

We explained to the marshalls that we
wouldn't be staying long, so they kindly let
us park right next to the exit, to save us
getting blocked in later in the day.

I bet thus guy is thinking.. "now where did I
put that!

Another seller just trying to make some
money in time for Christmas.
I spotted this Model 'A' 5 window coupe
parked opposite the Ace, so I just had to go
and have a look.

Very nice... it had a steel body, a wind down
rear window, drilled visor, 'I' beam and '40's
Ford brake drums and being fenderless
it looked pure Hot Rod

Classic model 'A' chrome radiator surround
stood out against the traditional black gloss
paint and whitewall tyres on American racing
mag wheels.

Looks like a small block Chevy motor to me..
with triple carb set up, again pure Hot Rod.

Interior was cool... love the 'radio mike' gear
shifter, and the novel way to prevent theft...
a pair of handcuff's locked from the steering
wheel onto the shifter.

Nathan, another member of the Oxcubz VW
Club was also there in his California imported
bay window

As Nathan was approaching the Ace, the
local police pulled him over for a 'technical
irregularity' issue on his bus, luckily they saw
it was a genuine mistake and let hm off.

Parked up near Nathan, was this immaculate
23 window Samba in silver. Not everyone's
choice of colour for a Samba, but doesn't it
look good.
A pair of splits parked in the corner, the high
top was especially nice.

This high top was my other favourite at the
Jumble, how cool is this?

Interior of the high top... home
sweet home.

Claude and I got talking to this guy, Fillip, who
travels all across Europe in his busses buying
and selling those hard to find VW parts. He
recently completed a journey from Poland to
Mongolia via Ukraine, Russia. He carried spares
including a complete spare engine and gearbox.
Some of Fillip's parts for sale. Lot's of NOS
in the Hella boxes. Fillip gets e-mails from people
looking for that special part and Fillip will look
out for it on his travels.

A sign written panel van...the only way to go.
Outside the Ace Cafe, a trio of split screens.
High and shiney or low and rat?
Not noticable at first glance, but the contrasting
stripes on the paint looked good.
Parked opposite the Cafe was this lovely blue
Kombi, complete with decals.
I spotted this lovely looking Karmann parked
on the hill opposite the Ace.
Very nice photo of the Karamnn with the Ace
Cafe in the background.
This late bay was very clean and had some
cool stripes down the side.
Another pair of regulars at the Ace.
Cool photo of the beetle, T25 and bay.
Very clean and straight.
It's best to get a prime spot to show off your
parts, and these guy's were parked just
outside the main enterance.

So that was the S.S.V.C Autumn jumble. Although
Claude and I didn't stay very long it was still
a good day out, and nice to see some old friends
with the bonus a nice drive there and back (although cold)
