Stanford Hall VW Show 2025 (part 1 of 3)

For this year only: In previous years I would attend a show / rally and then post a review about the show the following weekend. However this year I have been too busy, so for this year only, I will post reviews of all the shows / rallies I attended over the summer months throughout the winter.

The Stanford Hall VW show this year was held on Sunday 3rd May and is an annual one day event organised by the Leicestershire and Warkickshire VW owners club, and held in the grounds of Stanford Hall, which was built in the 1690's in the beautiful village of Stanford-on-Avon, near Lutterworth in Leicestershire, LE17 6DH. The grounds also has the River Avon gently flowing through the grounds, and provides a spectacular backdrop for a VW show. As Stanford Hall is only about 60 miles from my hometown, and as the weather forecast was promising I decided to drive up. I have been to this show over the past few years and there is always a good collection of top quality VW's of all varieties with plenty of trade stands and an auto jumble and all set in the beautiful grounds of Stanford Hall.

On entering the show, you head through
the trade stands and auto jumble.

Always a good place to find that one hard
to find part you vehicle needs.

Stanford Hall is at the centre of the show.

Simon's '61 single cab looked fantastic
in the sunshine.

The Split Screen Van Club (SSVC) always
have an awesome amount of vehicles
 at Stanford Hall.

Just a small selection of the SSVC line up.

Jonny Marriage was there in 'Miss White'
his race Beetle.

That was the first of three reviews of the Stanford Hall Show. Next week there are plenty more busses, bugs, buggies with a few military VW's and even a Hebmuller, so be sure to come back next week.

Chalgove Classic Car meet. (part 2 of 2)

For this year only: In previous years I would attend a show / rally and then post a review about the show the following weekend. However this year I have been too busy, so for this year only, I will post reviews of all the shows / rallies I attended over the summer months throughout the winter.

On Monday 5th May 2025 I attended the Chalgrove May Day Festival Classic Car Show, an event organised in memory of Matthew Marriage, and held on the recreation ground in the pretty village of Chalgrove, Oxon. I wasn't sure what to expect from this local (ish) show, but I was pleasantly surprised. The free festival included the classic car / bike show along with food stalls, and the show ground was right next to the Lamb pub where you could get some liquid refreshments. The show had a great variety of classics from American muscle cars to the best of British classic cars and numerous bikes of all ages. The review continues as I walk around the show admiring all the vehicles.

My bus (with Suzie), parked up at the
Chalgrove classic car meet.

Lovely classic tractor parked up next to
me.

Thomas Marriage brought along Matthew's
(his late sons) beautiful bug. The car was
hand painted with brushes, but you'd
never guess as the finish is amazing.

The family use the car as a tribute to
their late son, and now use it to raise
money for charity.

Jack Marriage came along in his 'Rubber
Duck Racing' beetle.

Aylesbury VW Owners (AVWO) also
attended the show. Had I known they
were going along I would have joined
them for a cruise over. This is Andy's
early bay.

Simon's Baja Bug. (AVWO)

I think this is Stephen's beetle. (AVWO)

Just a handful of the AVWO members
that attended the show. There were other
members that attended the show which
although I didn't mention them by name,
were featured in last weeks post.

Lovely slammed Chevy pick up truck.

1936 Plymouth Coupe.

Tuff looking Mercury Comet.

So that was the Chalgrove Classic car show, overall a very enjoyable day out. The show had a great selection of classic cars and bikes, and it was held at a great location. The weather was good, which always helps, and judging by the number of members of the public that I saw I'm sure a decent amount of money was raised for charity.
