Halton Combined School Community Day 2025.

In previous years I would attend a show / rally and then post a review about the show the following weekend. However this year I have been too busy, so for this year only, I will post reviews of all the shows / rallies I attended over the summer months throughout the winter.

My mate Colin, who is a head teacher at Halton Combined School in Wendover put a post on social media asking anyone with a classic vehicle if they would like to pop down to a School community day / fund raising event that the school had arranged for today, Saturday 14th June. The day would consist of: live music, classic and modern cars, motorbikes, B-B-Q, bar, bouncy castle, ice cream van, dog show, campfire and bushcraft skills, and a circus entertainer along with a host of other activities. As Colin is a mate, and the fact that Halton Village is only about 5 miles from home, and as they had both a BBQ and an ice cream van, how could I possibly resist going along. This is probably the smallest 'show' that I attend each year, but as I said it's local to me, and I like to show my support to Colin.

neat touches such as those headlights.

I did like the wide colour coded arches
and the chrome door mirrors.

I believe Colin's dad owns this Ford
model Y. This really is a lovely example
of this 1930's classic.

In case your wondering, the car was 
filled with inflated balloons and you had to
guess how many was in there to win a
prize.

The King's Birthday parade was held on
the same day in London. As part of the
celebrations a fly past over Buckingham
Palace was organised.

The fly past over the Palace included
numerous aircraft from all corners of the
U.K. One of these planes was the
Lancaster bomber which once the fly past
was done headed back to it's base at
RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire.

But as RAF Halton is next door to the
school, I think they did a quick detour to
fly over RAF Halton. I didn't have much
time to get the camera out and take photos
of this iconic aircraft as this photo shows!

I don't normally post photos of me on my
blog, but the guy who was taking photos
on behalf of the school, caught me red-
handed at the Donut van!.. well I never
could resist a donut!

So that was the Halton Combined School Community Day review. As I said earlier, it's not like the normal VW / classic car shows I attend, it was a very small show but the atmosphere was nice and relaxed. It's nice to do something different from time to time, and it was also nice to be able to show my support to Colin. Next weeks blog is a three part review all about the Chiltern Hills Classic Car Show, where you'll be able to see plenty of American and British classic cars and more than enough VW's, as well as a host of other vehicles so be sure to come back next week.
