Ace cafe VW meet.

The March VW meeting at the Ace Cafe had a good turn out of vehicles, as well as the die hard visitors there were quite a few new VW's I haden't seen before.

This bright orange beetle had a roof chop with canvas sun roof.

It also had early indicators, nerf bars..

Frenched rear lights, hot rod style and...

Super straight body.

This was mad. No body work what-so-ever just netting, not sure I'd like to drive it on the road on a cold March evening, but....

It looked as though it would be great fun up in the sand dunes on the beach!

Not a very good photo, but this was real nice.
Both VW beetles but, oh so different
Lovely Karmann Ghia, although it was a later model it was still very nice.

Very clean and straight..

This single crew cab split is a regular up the Ace.
I do like this...

Very clean split screen camper.
If Carlsberg made campers... probably the best bus in the world.!

Another new bay I hadn't seen before....
It had these green lights under each wheelarch...

Errr.. Umm...

Fair play to this guy.. he was enjoying his crew cab bay
This guy bought these wicked lights off e-bay, they are sealed beam units for a Mini, but a bit of cutting and with the aid of a hammer they fitted perfectly... these would look nice on my bus!!

I do like wide steel wheels with hub caps.. must be my hot rod background.

Darren from Dunstable Dubbers always gets a good spot.. he must get there early
I must have spent 20 minutes reading all the stickers in Darren's windows.

This clean looking bug was parked outside on the road.
Inside the Ace, this is the stage area where they regualry have bands playing.

Good food, tea / coffee and a decent pint... what else do you need?

House of Dub VW meeting

For those of you who have been reading my blog you will know that I bought my bus from House of Dub / H.O.D. Imports. Well Zoe and Spike who own / run H.O.D. hold a monthly meeting on the last Wednesday of each month for VW owners at their local pub. My mate Stuart (http://chequeredfrontvw.blogspot.com) and I went along to join in. Staurt took his bug and I took my bus.

Stuart and I got a good parking spot at the pub!

(L/R) Spikes blue bay, Zoe's mustard bay
(with lovely groovy stripes) Richard's T4, my
bay and Stuarts bug.

Nice photo of the front of Zoe's westy. Check
the H.O.D website, because I think both Zoe's
and Spikes bay's are for sale

Stu's bug and my bus looking good under the
pub's outside lighting

Nice Karmann Ghia turned up. Its an african
import hence the right hand drive and as you
would expect coming from a hot country, it's
really quite solid. Although we chatted for
ages I never caught the owners name..!

They really are a classic shape aren't they...
it had nice single spotlight, it's all in the detail,
you know..

Just as nice looking from behind.

Then and now: Don't know who owned the
yellow split, or the new bug but nice to see
them at the meeting anyway.

Drunken bunch.... (only joking)

Anybody would think there was a VW meet
was going on..!

Ace Cafe VW meet.

On the 3rd Tuesday of each month the world famous Ace Cafe hold a VW aircooled and T4/T25 night. As the 'Ace' is only about 45 minutes from our home town we normally take a drive up there. The Aylesbury convoy of aircooled VW's has been as large as 6-7 vehicles including bug's / bays and splits, but unfortunately last night it was only my mate Stuart in his bug... I was going to take my bus but on the way to meet Stuart it started to drizzle, then and only then, did I realize my wipers had packed up.! So I hitched a ride in the bug with Stuart and Tim (which also had wiper failure on the way up, but we managed to fix this..) Check out the pic's below.. I bet you're gonna wish you were there!! Why not also check out the Ace Cafe website
http://www.ace-cafe-london.com/default.aspx

A good variety of aircooled VW's in front of
the cafe.

Darren's white bay and Roberts blue T25, both
from the Dunstable Dubers, were at the Ace
as usual.

Fuzzy picture, I was going for an action shot..!

Early Porsche turned up..well you wouldn't turn
him away would you?
This picture just doesn't do it justice

Very clean and straight early bay in the
Ace corner

Nice front....
And a nice behind
Stuarts yellow bug, not showing it's best side
in the beetle line up
I do have a soft spot for panel vans... although
this was a late bay it still got my attention as it
sat nice 'n high
This early bug was sweet...
No matter which angle you looked at it

The chequered front.. Stuarts trademark !!
This fastback looked cool amongst the bugs

First snow fall this winter...

Although Britain has had a widespread snowfall
this week that has caused chaos all over the
country, We are very lucky only to have had
a few inches (5-8cm) in my hometown
of Aylesbury.
